WOOD ISLAND came away in good order then quickly darted clear, showed the way while two path to the inside, responded well when asked coming to the three-sixteenths pole, accelerated further clear into the final furlong, maintained a three length margin into the final sixteenth and held under a strong hand-ride to the finish. JACKPOT JACKIE broke out and bumped with MAMBO JAZZ, angled in under urging at the rear then settled into stride, drafted inside on the turn, was asked once straightened into the stretch, came off the rail shortly thereafter, pursued the winner under a drive into the final sixteenth, gained willingly on that opponent late and was well clear for the place. MAMBO JAZZ was bumped at the start, raced inside of a foe while urged along under extra right-rein pressure, chased in the three to two path on the turn, dropped back while remaining on his inside lead in upper stretch and tired. ZODIAC WARRIOR was urged along on the outside, chased in the four to three path on the turn, dropped back in upper stretch and capitulated.
