Chart notes
HUGHES broke inward, vied with outer pair up the backstretch, dueled with YOU WANT SOME around the turn, put that rival away late on the bend, roused approaching the stretch, kicked clear at the top of the lane, then powered away easily in the final furlong. PHONE BOOTH chased the top trio from inside leaving the backstretch, followed behind HUGHES on the turn, came under a ride late on the bend, stayed on the fence in the lane, could not make any headway on the runaway winner down the stretch but was able to edge KENNYTEN for the place honors. KENNYTEN took a bump leaving the gate, vied three deep in the early going, failed to keep up with the top pair and chased three wide through the turn, was closest in pursuit of the winner at the eighth pole, kept trying through the final furlong but got edged for second. HE IS NO LIE stumbled badly leaving the gate, followed in range from off the rail, gained ground in the four path on the turn, then tired down the lane. YOU WANT SOME broke out and bumped KENNYTEN, fought for the lead between rivals up the backstretch, dueled outside HUGHES on the turn, could not keep up with that rival past the quarter pole, angled out in upper stretch and retreated.
