Chart notes
SMART JOKER was forwardly-positioned stalking the pace from off the inside, shifted in at the half, saved ground on the turn cutting the corner into upper stretch and taking command, drew clear in upper stretch, held. BERNIE LOMAX shifted in tracking in behind the leaders heading into the turn, switched out off the rail midway on that bend, fanned out but was carried further coming into upper stretch seven wide, drifted in a bit and gained steadily but not enough. TWIRLING ROSES was outsprinted early, saved ground on the turn, swung eight wide coming out of that bend, finished strongly but too late. SONNYISNOTSOFUNNY got away alertly and set the pace from off the inside racing in the three path into the turn, drifted six wide leaving that bend, ran on evenly in the lane. VERRAZANO FIRST chased three to four wide, shifted in a bit in upper stretch and ran on. SAND MOUNTAIN lacked early speed, was kept outside going four wide on the turn, was never a threat. COIN PURSE was in tight at the half, raced outside in the three path into the turn, faded.
