Chart notes
RACE FOR COVER took command from the start, opened a clear, well measured lead to the far turn, repelled the runner-up on turn to kick away in upper stretch, was geared down in a hand ride inside the eighth pole and was nearly caught in the final strides, prevailing when the rider went back to a late drive to hold on. FRENCHMAN JAMES prompted the pace to the far turn, edged closer on the bend, was turned away in upper stretch and persevered to be coming late and just miss. ALEXANDER K unhurried to race near the rear of the field well off the pace, commenced a steady rally midway on the far turn and closed the gap while unable to reel in the top pair. DOUBLE UP LARRY tracked the leaders from mid-pack well off their lead and faded on the turn lacking a resposne. TINSELTOWN was outrun.
