Chart notes
CHUMMERS dropped back early, saved ground while reserved off the pace, moved closer near the nine-sixteenths pole, was roused while inside on the far turn, came into the stretch in the three path then quickly moved further out, rallied into the final furlong, swapped back to his inside lead while gaining coming to the sixteenth-pole and got up to prevail under strong handling. A LITTLE AT FIRST moved from the inside to the three path early on the first turn, was rated off the pace while outside without cover, advanced closer to the leader near the nine-sixteenths pole, was asked in the three path on the far turn, gained to make a bid approaching the quarter-pole, took the lead in the four path into upper stretch, shook clear under a right-handed crop near the furlong marker then drifted in, was switched to a left-handed crop shortly thereafter, led into the final sixteenth but was caught while well clear for the place. JAXER hit the inside of the gate at the start then bumped with SPIRIT OF NEW YORK then bobbled, was slow into stride and spotted the front a few lengths, raced in the two path on the first turn, settled at the rear, was roused in the three then four path on the far turn, came into the stretch in the six path and got up for the show while no match for the top two. WIT STORM was fractious in the gate, bumped with a foe at the start, went around the first turn in the three then four path, settled outside but with cover, moved closer near the nine-sixteenths pole, was asked in the two then three path on the far turn, spun into the stretch in the five path, remained on his inside lead until outside the furlong marker then swapped to the proper lead and missed the show. BIG FROSTY dropped back early, rounded the first turn in the two path, settled near the back, saved ground while roused on the far turn, moved out inside the furlong marker and failed to threaten. MISSIONATTHEGLEN bumped with a foe at the start, went to the front then sped clear, opened up while inside on the first turn, had the lead margin diminish midway down the backstretch, was asked while inside on the far turn, lost the advantage into upper stretch and gave way. SPIRIT OF NEW YORK became fractious in the gate after his neighbor to the inside did the same, raced in the two path on the first turn, was rated in second, moved closer to the leader midway down the backstretch then made a bid, vied in the two path on the far turn, was asked between horses outside the quarter-pole, dropped back while remaining on his inside lead in upper stretch, swapped to the proper lead inside the furlong marker and had nothing left.
