Chart notes
THE BRIGADE saved ground off the pace, was making good progress at the rail around the far turn, checked sharply near the five-sixteenths marker, dropped back inside, swung widest in upper stretch, surged late and was up in the final strides. ORATOR saved ground up close, came through inside of the pacesetter to take the lead near the three-eighths pole, dug in in inside of EDGERTON in midstretch, fended off that rival but was nailed late. EDGERTON raced off the early pace three wide, advanced four wide around the far turn, shifted in near the three-sixteenths pole, rallied through the lane but was outkicked between the top two late. THE TOWN saved ground well off the pace, made progress three wide around the far turn, angled six wide in upper stretch and rallied for a share. BENJIS BENEFIT (IRE) set a clear pace inside, led in the two path into the far turn, was collared near the three-eighths marker and weakened through the stretch. KORU played no factor while racing two wide. THE GREAT OSCAR checked nearing the first turn, raced in range three wide around both turns then was shut off and forced to take up near the three-sixteenths marker. WIN STREET was outrun inisde. PATRICK'S PROMISE chased the pace two wide and came up empty in the lane. FOLLOWING AN INQUIRY AND AN OBJECTION FROM THE RIDER OF THE GREAT OSCAR, EDGERTON WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM THIRD AND PLACED SEVENTH FOR INTERFERENCE IN THE STRETCH.
