Chart notes
IRON IN THE FIRE tracked three wide early, continued to track in the two path on the turn, swung three wide into the lane with aim on the leader, drifted out but nonetheless rallied to the lead near the sixteenth and proved best under a drive. TWOFEXUSNEXUS was pushed early for a chasing position inside foes, rallied two wide from the three eighths, swung out to the six path in upper stretch, sustained his rally but was narrowly outfinished by IRON IN THE FIRE. DRILLING REPORT chased two deep early, was pushed along three wide into the turn and began to improve when driven, swung five wide into the lane, sustained his rally between horses, was herded out by IRON IN THE FIRE as that foe drifted out, kept on fighting but was outfinished between horses. WHISKEY AND EASY was placed on the lead inside, set the pace while saving ground on the turn, carried the lead into the lane, was put to a drive approaching the furlong mark, drifted out, could not hold off the closers and lost the lead near the sixteenth mark. ONCOMING TRAIN settled at the rear, was driven in the four path on the turn, swung to the seven path for the stretch run, and chased on mildly. REDDINGANDLEE settled toward the rear, made mild improvement when driven for a rally in the four path on the turn, swung into the lane in the six path, and flattened out in the lane. F J'S FLACO tracked inside early, saved ground while chasing around the turn, was driven in upper stretch but proved empty. CARBON STRYKER tracked between horses early, began to weaken from the half mile mark and was eased in the lane.
