Chart notes

COMPTON broke inwards to begin, had the rail position sitting in the middle of the pack, dropped back slightly with the field bunching up due to the pace slowing down at the half, patiently waited behind a wall of runners midway around the far turn under a very snug hold, shaved the corner reaching for more ground entering the stretch, shifted out off the tiring early leader to the two path at the eighth pole and powered past inside seizing the lead in deep stretch for the late running tally. GRAFFITI WRITER had the rail stalking the lead twosome, moved in even closer sitting behind the frontrunner at the half, shifted out making a run two wide at the five sixteenths marker, bid for the lead outside with a quarter mile still to run, took control outside three wide by the furlong pole but could not withstand the late charge by the winner inside in the final seventy yards. COMMANDER WORSLEY broke out on the start, settled near the rear ahead of only one runner on the initial bend, shifted out three deep entering the back straight taking closer order outside by the half, made a bold circling move around foes four wide throughout the last bend, swung out widest in the six path coming on with a chance for a share of the prize outside in upper stretch, had the four path still in the thick of things with a furlong to go but stalled in deep stretch holding comfortably for the show award. SUNRISE DRIVE settled between horses in midfield, had the fence keeping pace along the backside, inched up on the rail along the far turn, angled out to the three path straightening out for home and ran on willingly holding for a minor role. CIRCLE BACK JACK was forwardly placed keeping a close eye on the front two runners, closed the gap on the pacesetter three deep at the half mile marker,, offered a mild run three wide getting into contention briefly at the quarter pole but evened out in the five path in the stretch drive. CAPTIVATING NAME hopped on the start, travelled three wide outside in mid-pack, made little change down the backside but now between runners, was spinning his wheels two to three wide on the final bend and could not get involved in the drive to the finish line running just off the fence. ARMINO was in tight leaving the gate, trailed throughout saving all the ground and could only manage to pass a couple of very tired stragglers in the stretch running. I LUCKED OUT was keen fighting the riders restraint loose on the front end early on, remained alone up top with the jockey still trying to nurse the speed down the backside, slowed the tempo down through the far turn having a quickly diminishing advantage by the quarter pole, could not find more to counter when giving up the lead on the fence turning for home, stopped on the rail by the furlong marker and was wrapped up in deep stretch. CHANCEL chased the pacesetter just outside two wide on the first turn as well as down the backside, was roused midway on the final bend with little response, had nothing to offer when engulfed three wide with runners on both sides making a rally at the quarter pole and was eased up through the lane just cantering across the finish line in the end.
