Chart notes

CAROLINE ST. BEAT settled just off the inside in pursuit from mid pack, tucked inside three furlongs out and remained patiently handled until roused spinning five wide into upper stretch, dug in under a drive rallying through the final furlong to get up in the final jumps and prevail. SAMMY C NOTE got bumped at the start by TWIRLING LAD, who broke out a step, prompted that rival from the outside three then two wide coming under coaxing just outside the quarter pole before being let out spinning three wide into upper stretch, seized command with three-sixteenths to go, dug in under threat from a host of pursuers and was caught in the final strides while safe for the place honors. COACH RYAN settled three then two wide near the rear of the field, came under coaxing near the quarter pole and angled seven to eight wide into upper stretch, offered up a mild kick. CHARLES J led briefly early on before being displaced on the front by TWIRLING LAD, grew rank off the heels of that rival under restraint through to into the first turn before settling to track the pace along the inside, remained patiently handled until let out taking the inside route into upper stretch, kept on under a drive to the finish. OAT COUTOUR chased three then two wide from mid pack coming under encouragement with five-sixteenths to go, went eight wide into upper stretch, offered up a mild bid but was outfinished. SIR OSCAR tracked just off the pace two to three wide on hold until set down angled four to five wide into upper stretch, offered up a bid a furlong out, then flattened out in the late stages. TWIRLING LAD broke out a step at the start bumping SAMMY C NOTE, showed the way in hand along the inside under some pressure from that rival to the outside, came under urging near the quarter pole and took the inside route into upper stretch, got displaced from command with three-sixteenths remaining and weakened in the late stages. HONOREE raced just off the inside through the first turn before briefly going four paths off the rail into the backstretch, tucked to the inside five furlongs out, came under coaxing near the quarter pole, spun just off the inside into upper stretch, offered up a bid, but was outkicked to the wire. NEWLYN broke out a step at the start and was corrected, raced three wide through the first turn and then three paths off the hedge down the backstretch, continued three wide through the far turn coming under coaxing three furlongs out, went six wide into upper stretch, remained prominent to the eighth pole, then weakened to the finish. ZAPRUDER raced just off the inside through the first turn, chased three then two wide pushed along from three furlongs out, went four to five wide into upper stretch and came up empty. DREAMS OF ROME four wide through the first turn, chased four then three wide coming under a ride near the quarter pole, tipped six wide into upper stretch and tired.
