Chart notes
SANGER was off a beat slow, then caught wide on the first turn, steadily advanced to take over the lead near the five-furlong pole, dueled outside of a rival through the far turn, got the best of that one in upper stretch, then held clear with determination to prevail. BROCK ON BY contested the pace four-wide, went on with SANGER to duel through the far turn, gave way in upper stretch, lost position but stayed on gamely and came back to reclaim the second prize. KIRBY DERBY raced well off the pace near the back for the first half, moved up into the mix through the far turn, made a mild rail bid, was slowly gaining, but ran out of time. WINNING BIG contested the early pace, gave way on the far turn, kept on well late. CANDY'S CHROME settled far back early, rejoined the pack just before the last turn, came out five or six wide into the stretch, and produced a grinding finish to improve slightly. AMERICAN EMPIRE tracked from well off the pace early, moved closer approaching the half, but lacked a finish. VINNIEBOB vied inside of three rivals early, then gave way before the three-furlong marker. FAST SERVICE tracked just behind the pace battle for the first half-mile, then faltered in the stretch. DADDY WHAT IF missed the break, then was completely devoid of early speed and was distanced early, rallied to regain contact with the field late on the far turn, came five or six wide into the stretch, but was unable to improve.
