Chart notes

FINAL PAYMENT stalked the pace to be well positioned off the dueling pacesetters, was put an early drive on the bend and wore the tiring leaders down through the lane to be clearing off late. SMOKE AN A PANCAKE raced with the pace angling in early down the backside across rivals path causing that one to clip heels, continued to press the pace through the turn, took the lead in upper stretch and was outfinished while tiring in the late going. WHITE BULLET broke alertly to be on the lead setting a fast pace, dueled with the runner-up through the turn to mid-stretch and weakened in the final furlong. BUILT BY KHOZAN went evenly failing to menace. LETHAL SPEED trailed as a non-factor. REDHOTNOTBOTHERED clipped the runner-up's heels on the backside when that one angled in early causing him to lose his rider and walked off after the race. THE STEWARDS POSTED AN INQUIRY INTO THE RUN DOWN THE BACKSIDE AND THE INCIDENT INVOLVING REDHOTNOTBOTHERED, UPON REVIEW THEY DISQUALIFIED THE RUNNER-UP AND PLACED HIM FIFTH.
