Chart notes

HEAVY POUR broke out at the start, recovered sharply being on the engine outside runners heading into the backstretch, crossed over getting loose up top on the fence by the five eighths pole under a snug hold, rolled along moving very smoothly with little pressure being applied by the chasing trio throughout the turn, had the two path with company pressing inside in upper stretch, responded smartly when asked for more under a right-handed crop pulling away at the furlong pole and was kept to the task holding safely from the late charging outside rival for the 'catch me if you can' score. MANSETTI bobbled on the break, had only the other troubled start beaten along the backside, started to pick up the bit when roused for more inside foes at the five sixteenths pole, shifted out five wide bullying his way through at the top of the stretch and had a string late charge outside closing in but could not get to the winner in time. WAGSTAFF had a good spot on the rail sitting a couple lengths off the pacesetter early on, sat poised creeping up taking the shortest route around the bend drafting behind the leader at the quarter pole, skimmed the fence making a bid inside at the head of the lane, could not match strides with the winner who had another gear left at the furlong pole and evened out just a touch late holding for the show award. PIPER'S FACTOR broke out on the start, was forwardly placed between runners tracking the lone speed down the backside, made little headway being ridden for more two wide with rivals on either side around the bend, shifted to the four-path straightening out for the drive, kept plugging away coming on while staying on the incorrect lead through the lane and got up at the wire capturing a minor share. SOUPED UP travelled three deep outside two challengers keeping a close eye on the frontrunner, took closer order three wide on the turn narrowing the margin by the quarter pole, had the three path very much in the hunt in upper stretch but could not find more in the late stages and faded between rivals at the sixteenth pole. TWIN CITY had the two path with runners on either side near the rear down the backstretch, was scrubbed on picking up the bit coming with a rally midway along the turn, swung out to the six path exchanging brushed with an inside foe who splitting rivals at the head of the lane, could not continue with the run and idled outside rivals in the final eighth of a mile. NOTORIOUS GANGSTER settled close to the tail end three deep outside runners, was spinning his wheels three wide around the oval going in the wrong direction by the quarter pole and in the three path for the stretch drive could not be a factor coming up empty in the stretch running. BAYTOWN DREAMER had a poor start breaking slowly and inwards, trailed the field finding his feet along the backside, tried to make a run closing in catching up to a rival outside by the quarter pole while four wide, swung out widest in the six path turning or home but had little to offer in the drive to the wire.
