Chart notes

THREE MILE GOLD showed speed and went to the front, controlled the action while inside on the turn, responded well when asked near the quarter-pole, came under a right-handed crop outside the furlong marker and held under strong urging. VAN VOLLENHOVEN settled on the outside, was roused while dropping from the four path to the two path on the turn, moved out in upper stretch and finished willingly for the place. FIREBALLIN dropped back early, went around the turn in the two to three path, spun into the stretch in the four path then angled further out, remained on his inside lead until just before the furlong marker, swapped to the proper lead when pulled in some by the rider at that juncture and improved for the show. LIGHT FANTASTIC stalked the pace on the outside of the leader, made a bid near the nine-sixteenths pole, was asked in the two then three path on the turn, chased the winner under a drive in the stretch and lacked the needed kick. STORMY BIRTHDAY tracked the pace on the outside, was asked in the three then four path on the turn, turned into the stretch in the five path, chased into the final furlong and tired. MANOR PARK dropped back then raced at the rear, rounded the turn in the two path, moved out in the stretch and was no factor. TRUE LEGEND settled comfortably off the pace, was roused in the two path on the turn, dropped to the inside late on that bend and lacked the needed response. UNTIL LAST CALL was fractious in the gate, settled off the pace, dropped back under urging while inside on the turn and failed to respond.
