Chart notes
SOUPER HANDSOME vied inside for the lead, dueled with STRIKE on the far turn and stretch run, gained a short lead past the furlong marker, then drifted out twice in deep stretch bothering that rival and edged away under urging. CARIBBEAN COMET raced two wide off the pace, moved up inside on the far turn, angled out, came three wide into the stretch, rallied in midstretch, closed steadily late outside rivals and got up for second. STRIKE vied two wide for the lead, dueled with SOUPER HANDSOME on the far turn, battled outside of that rival to midstretch, weakened a bit, then was bothered twice by that rival drifting out and lost second. TOO TALL BLAKE raced four wide early, settled two wide off the pace, advanced inside at the quarter pole and rallied mildly on the rail. THANKS CHARLIE steadied early, then pulled hard and steadied along on the first turn, tracked inside, chased and gave way. EYEWAY raced off the pace inside, chased inside, then was injured, pulled up and transported off the track in the Equine Ambulance. After a Stewards' Inquiry and Jockey Objection by the rider of STRIKE, SOUPER HANDSOME was disqualified and placed third for interference in deep stretch.
