Chart notes

BREAK THE SPELL was unhurried along the inside at the back, switched out heading up the backstretch, began to advance on the far turn first inside one rival then outside another fanning seven wide into upper stretch, was lightly bumped at that juncture, took a narrow lead in deep stretch dueling outside a foe and held that rival. COMPTON settled off the inside at the rear racing between foes then inside a rival but off the fence heading into the far turn, swung six wide leaving that bend, was in tight and bumped with the outside then inside rival in upper- to mid-stretch, kept on under strong urging inside the winner but couldn't get that one. CLASSIC DANCER set the pace near the inside, faced increasing pressure up the backstretch and far turn, came off the rail a bit turning for home still in command but lacked the needed late kick. CONN SMYTHE (GB) broke inwardly a bit, tracked from inside the second flight saving ground, ran on evenly. GRAFFITI WRITER stalked outside the second flight mostly three wide, was asked at the quarter pole, came out six wide in mid-stretch bumping an outside rival, continued to weaken. ADAPTED shadowed the pacesetter from outside up the backstretch, applied further pressure on the far turn, faltered in the stretch. CIRCLE BACK JACK broke awkwardly and slowly, moved out and up alongside rivals at the rear, was asked for more early on the far turn but had no response.
