Chart notes

STORM CANNON hustled away to a narrow lead with four of the rivals in close pursuit, got clear late on the turn, then held clear to the wire without having to deal with any serious threat from behind. SHINY SHORES tracked just behind the group contesting the early pace, came out three wide for the stretch run, moved up into second. but hung late and was unable to get to the winner. TINAJA raced close up while keeping to the inside, kept on well enough to gain the minor award. WINTER FINISHES was well off the pace early on, came out five wide for the drive, and showed some late interest to improve. AWSOME CHARLIE pressed the pace five, then four-wide, loomed past the quarter pole but flattened out in upper stretch and did not offer a late bid. MEADOW GOLD contested the pace three to four wide, then weakened near the quarter pole. POW NOW fractious in the gate, hopped as the stall doors opened, then propped, losing the rider, ran off, then was caught by the outrider in the stretch, and walked off. THERE WAS A STEWARD INQUIRY IN TO THE START OF #2 POW NOW. AFTER REVIEWING THE START, THE STEWARDS RULED THAT THE HORSE WAS GIVEN A FAIR START AND CAUSED HIS OWN PROBLEMS, SO NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
