Chart notes
PLEASEUSETHEPORTAL off a step slow, settled off the pace two to three wide early, was always close, launched a bid approaching the three-furlong pole, fanned out five wide into the stretch and finished well under straong handling to get up in the final jumps. EL DIAMANTE NEGRO hustled to grab the early lead, slowed the pace, quickened into the far turn, fought back when challenged on the far turn, held determinedly through the stretch run, but could not hold off the winner in the last jumps. INDY'S SONG stalked the pace in the two-path, made a bid for the lead near the quarter pole, but went a big flat in the stretch and held desperately to save third. JOHN JOHN took back to the rear to avoid going five wide through the first turn, then stayed wide in the run down the backstretch, moved up to be in range by the far turn, loomed a threat approaching the quarter pole but lacked the needed response in the final furlong. ARCH CITY raced close up through the first half mile, but was outfinished in the late stages. NORTHERN QUEST settled at the back through the early stages, went three wide through the far turn, then came out five wide for the stretch run, but was unable to threaten.
