Chart notes
VENETO made the early lead, hugged the inner rail, was prompted through the stretch, remained on his left lead through the lane and dug in stubbornly. POOR PEANUT chased outside the winner, stayed on his left lead until deep stretch and finished gamely. PENCIL ME IN stayed along the inner rail in a forward position around the turn and in upper stretch, swung outside in mid stretch and failed to menace in an even effort. BATTALION LEADER chased outside and weakened. IN HONOR OF JEFF , outrun, was four deep turning for home.
