Chart notes

RED SEA broke sharply but proved rank early, throwing his head repeatedly as the rider took a hard hold, yielded the lead to an inside rival midway through the first turn, settled to track a length off the pace down the backstretch, re-engaged approaching the three-furlong pole, opened up in upper stretch, and shortened stride late while holding on stubbornly in the final strides. WICKHAM LANE tracked three wide around the clubhouse turn, chased well clear of the secondary group down the backstretch, mounted a steady three-path bid through the lane, and closed steadily to just miss. MIDAS FACTOR slipped inside the rank early leader midway through the first turn, opened a clear lead down the backstretch, offered no resistance when headed at the three-furlong pole, and tired in the lane. CHANCE ON ME unhurried early at the head of the trailing flight, launched a noticeable middle move on the far turn to range up near the main pack, but flattened out entering the stretch and held on to improve position well ahead of the rest. CLASSIC MARTINI roke a step slow, saved ground along the rail under encouragement, but lacked a response when set down for the drive. MY FRIEND LOU aught three wide around the clubhouse turn, remained unhurried near the rear, and failed to offer a late bid. PHANTOM GOLD settled mid-pack at the head of the second flight, began to labor on the far turn, and dropped back through the lane. BAND TOUR showed no early interest despite rider encouragement, trailed to the far turn, and was never a factor.
