Chart notes
TIZ CANDY stumbled, then took a bump from BROWN SUGAR BETTY at the break, stalked the pace two-wide down the backstretch, moved up to challenge for the lead approaching the three-furlong pole, responded when asked at the head of the stretch, dueled briefly with KWAN, then edged ahead in the final furlong to prevail. KWAN stumbled coming out of the gate, settled along the rail down the backstretch, then shifted out to the three or four path when unable to find a clear route, advanced through the turn to join the leading group turning for home, and finished well but was outkicked by the winner. BROWN SUGAR BETTY broke outward and made light contact with TIZ CANDY, settled between rivals down the backstretch in the tightly bunched field, was blocked from the three-furlong pole to the stretch, then tipped out to the four path and responded to strong handling to gain third while no threat to the top pair. SHE'S A DANCER was allowed to settle after the break, tracked four-wide down the backstretch near the rear but remained within range of the leaders, moved through the far turn and came three-wide as a quartet fanned out into the stretch, then finished willingly but was not quite good enough. GREAT DESTINY bobbled slightly and came away awkwardly, settled behind horses along the rail without a clear path, failed to respond when directed toward an opening along the inside in upper stretch, then shifted out to seek room in the three path but again failed to respond and dropped out of contention. SWEET BOURBON TEA made the lead with the field in close pursuit, came under pressure near the quarter pole, and gave way in upper stretch.
