Chart notes
STAY IN LINE vied with a pair of rivals up the backstretch, carried a short lead through the turn, dug in through the lane and held resolutely. CHRISTA MCAULIFFE was off slow to begin, coaxed to a forward position on the inside, followed behind STAY IN LINE through the turn, cut the corner and put in a rail bid but lacked the needed late punch to get by the winner. LADY MENDELSSOHN vied between rivals to the turn, fought in the two path around the bend, hounded the winner to the sixteenth pole, then flattened late. SCARY FAST RIDE stalked the top trio from outside, chased four deep around the bend and also flattened. DANZING FLYER vied for the lead three deep, remained close outside the top pair through the turn, chased into the final eighth pole and weakened.
