Chart notes
PEPPER BROOKS was away alertly in control leaving the chute, had company to her inside at the half forcing the pace, battled two wide outside throughout the turn going head-to-head, dropped back slightly arguing for the front end giving the inside rival a slim advantage turning for home but found more when asked by the rider with a right handed crop at the furlong pole and drew away professionally when called upon for more in deep stretch going away for the win at the finish line. EGBERT WHO tracked on the inside of another initially, pulled the rider closer pressing the pace inside at the half, dueled on the fence going eye to eye around the turn, edged away getting a brief but clear head in front saving the ground shaving the corner, had no answer when the winner found another gear outside coming back on leaving the furlong pole but still showed grit gamely holding safe for the runners up share at the wire. HOLIDAY SNOOZE was unhurried trailing the field on the outside, waited on the rail being a joint last through the turn running, rallied sharply in the three path straightening out for the stretch run and ran on with good late energy to be a clear third while almost getting up late for the place share as well. NAVY STREET bobbled on the break, recouped into the backstretch sitting all alone isolated in midfield, had the fence inside two others chasing the contesting duo midway around the oval, hugged the rail moving into the third place position in upper stretch but evened out in the final eighth of a mile to settle on the fringes in the end. WILD CARD settled near the rear between rivals with a half mile still to run, co-trailed on the outside unable to get into gear throughout the turn, shifted to the five path between horses in with a chance for a small share in upper stretch but failed to fire in the final furlong. AWESOME BEAT was forwardly placed on the outside watching the embattled twosome at the half, had a busy ride two wide trying just to keep up to the leaders at the five sixteenths pole, angled out to the four path in the conversation for minor role at the top of the stretch but faded between runners in the last sixteenth of a mile. BOWMAN'S RUN travelled three deep in the middle of the pack down the backside, continued on three wide around the bend making little impact, swung out widest in the six path at the top of the lane outside rivals but had no finish to offer and was a non factor in the late running.
