Chart notes
HE'S NOT JOKING broke outwards on the start, was nudged along improving inside runners down the backside to sit in midfield on the fence by the half, sat on hold behind the chasing pair throughout the turn, had a quick turn of foot when coaxed for more coming on sharply at the quarter pole, had aim on the winner at the top of the lane and with relentless pursuit down the stretch got up just in time to capture the winner's share outside. PAYNES SPIRIT shot clear leaving the chute, rambled on unchallenged down the backside, moved very comfortably it appeared while loose up top settling a rapid pace, remained well in control on the fence in mid-stretch but began to get weary in the final sixteenth and was nailed by the fast charging winner outside right on the final jump. COUNTRYBOYSURVIVE was unfazed being at the tail end in the beginning just galloping along, started to make up ground passing a runner by the half mile marker, moved in under a snug hold having to be idled down waiting behind a trio of horses through the oval, angled out to the three path gathering speed getting clear run and finished up mildly trying to get to the lead pair in the final furlong but taking home only the show money when crossing the wire. CAIRO CAPER travelled three deep outside a couple of rivals in the third tier down the backstretch, made a move circling three wide around foes in midturn, continued to take closer order four wide at the quarter pole, angled out to the six path at the top of the stretch and ran on willing despite never switching leads in the drive and was all alone at the wire to be a fringe player in the end. SPEEDY BEAR had runners on both sides in the third flight with the field quite strung out at the half, was asked for more at the five sixteenths pole but offered little response, shifted out four wide at the quarter marker, angled out to the six path in upper stretch but could not factor in the drive to the finish line. LASKAY was antsy prior to the start, sat forwardly placed on the rail while inside another keeping a close eye on the quick frontrunner down the backstretch, chased in vain around the turn unable to keep up with a quarter mile to run, gave way drifting out to the five path straightening out for the stretch run and continued to fade staying on the wrong lead in the final furlong. FRIENDLY GHOST settled on the outside near the rear, trailed the field by the half, could not make any headway well behind the group through the bend but did find a little interest catching a straggler by the furlong pole. SIRIUS A (IRE) was bumped by the inside foe on the break, had a good spot tracking the lone speedster down the backside, had to driven on for more but could not hold forward position two wide being passed by rivals on either side at the quarter pole and emptied out in the four path at the head of the lane.
