Chart notes
CITY OF GOD was held up along the inside early, tracked the leader heading up the backstretch for the second time, moved up under a ride along the rail to bid midway around the final turn, cut the corner to hold a narrow lead entering the stretch, dueled with a stubborn outer rival to the wire, and dug in to hold on. CODE RUNNER trailed early, continued to be unhurried going into the third turn, began to improve heading up the backstretch for the second time, ranged up boldly to bid in the three path midway around the final turn, battled with a game inner rival to the wire, could not get past, but was clearly second best. TWO HEARTED laid off the pace in the three path, remained wellback heading into the backstretch for the second time, improved around the final turn, and got up for show in the stretch. BATTLE CRUISER tossed his head as the gates opened causing a slow start, rated in the three path early, moved up going into the third turn to lead heading into the backstretch for the second time, was ridden into the final turn, lost the lead between rivals passing the five-sixteenths pole, then faded. NIP N TUCK laid up close inside turning into the backstretch for the first time, continued comfortably around the second turn, but misjudged the finish and came under a drive heading into the stretch for the first time, went well clear, pulled up going into the third turn, re-engaged once realizing the race was still occurring, chased from then on into the backstretch for the second time but did not threaten. EUCLID AVENUE set the pace while well off the rail in the four path turning into the backstretch for the first time, took back from the five path midway around the second turn, then chased up the backstretch the second time, but retreated. NO CHANGES WERE MADE AFTER AN OBJECTION LODGED BY THE RIDER OF CODE RUNNER AGAINST THE RIDER OF CITY OF GOD FOR INTERFERENCE IN THE STRETCH WAS DISALLOWED.
