Chart notes
LEGAL GAMBIT showed speed and contested the pace on the inside of two opponents, vied two path to the inside on the turn, was given his cue with three furlongs to run, shook clear into the stretch, drew off under a right-handed crop into the final furlong, widened while kept to the task under a strong-hand ride into the final sixteenth then was geared down late while much the best. JACK RILEY broke in and brushed the gate, chased the leading trio, dropped back with five furlongs to run and raced a bit greenly, went around the turn in the two path, spun into the stretch in the three path, angled out around the three-sixteenths pole and improved for the place. ORIGINALITY showed speed on the outside of two rivals, vied in the four path on the turn, was asked near the three-eighths pole, dropped back into the stretch and weakened. SIR DUKE broke in then was quickly corrected with the right-rein, showed speed between horses and contested the pace, vied in the three path while asked on the turn, dropped back into the stretch and tired. ENTICED MASTER stumbled at the start but broke with the body of the field, moved up to race just behind the leading trio then came within three-quarters of those opponents, dropped back early on the turn, saved ground while ridden along on that bend and came up empty.
