Chart notes
ZATARA settled mid-pack along the inside, forged to the lead in upper stretch and held determinedly under threat in the final yards. KING'S LEAP missed the break and hopped at the start, leaving him well behind the field, rushed up to regain contact before the turn, made a strong move late on the backstretch to reach striking range near the seven-sixteenths marker, put a head in front before the quarter pole, floated out slightly on the far turn, leaving an opening for the eventual winner, made one last try near the wire but came up short. PASSIONED broke well but eased back to a tracking position three-wide, came under a ride approaching the three-furlong pole, swung four-wide into the stretch and produced a grinding finish to gain third. GLOBES was urged from the gate to secure forward position and gained the early advantage entering the first turn, led under mild pressure from GUNNER BAY down the backstretch, battled back when that rival drew alongside, then gave way in upper stretch. GUNNER BAY settled in second position for the first half, moved up to challenge late on the backstretch, vied between horses through the far turn, then weakened near the furlong marker. BURN NOTICE trailed throughout.
