Chart notes
DELIAN LEAGUE made a savvy move getting the rail in mid-pack on the first bend, advanced on the fence at the seven sixteenths pole, edged closer taking the shortest way around the far turn waiting to pounce at the quarter pole, had clear run in the three path picking up the bit when asked at the top of the lane, drove between horses sharply getting a head in front taking control by the eighth pole and won going away in the end. POSTURING had the fence close to the back, narrowed the gap improving on the rail down the backside by the half, crept up even closer two wide through the last turn waiting behind a wall of runners with the field getting clustered at the quarter marker, shaved the corner getting room entering the stretch, had to alter his course to the outside losing his path at the sixteenth pole with the winner long gone by then but still dug in in the late running and surged outside in the shadow of the wire to best the rest for the runners up share. SHAMATEUR was quickest early on getting to the fence up front, had company outside going at a lively pace down the backstretch, maintained a slim lead inside a host of runners along the last bend, determinedly was holding off outside foes in the two path at the top of the stretch, offered no resistance when the winner powered past outside at the furlong pole but still showed grit in the late going just losing the nod to an outside rival at the wire for the place share. OFFLEE NAUGHTY had the rail position keeping a close eye on the engaged duo in the first part of this two turn event, moved in cruising around horses three wide in the last turn going head to head up top outside with a quarter mile remaining, continued to fight it out in the four path at the head of the lane but idled in the final furlong holding for a minor award at the finish line. SWAN LAKE broke in at the start, had the outside position near the rear in the early stages, started to make a run two wide narrowing the margin at the five sixteenths pole, shifted out six wide with the field bunching up at the quarter pole, angled out further for clear run in the seven path taking the corner and finished up evenly through the stretch. AMERICAN DECISION was brushed by the inside foe on the start, had a good position forwardly placed watching the lead three runners going two wide on the first bend, dropped back a touch while three deep outside two others in the third flight along the backside, was hard ridden three to five wide on the last turn just trying to hold position, remained in the five path still in with a shot for a small share straightening out for the drive but faded between horses in the last eighth of a mile. GRAFFITI WRITER broke outwards on the start, tracked the pacesetter just outside in the beginning, settled in the third tier between runners with the field strung out down the backstretch, made a brief rally three wide on the far turn by the quarter pole, had a chance for a piece of the prize in the five path turning for home but could not sustain the run and tired inside rivals in the final furlong. ONENIGHTSTANDARDS bobbled leaving the gate, co-trailed three wide outside on the first bend, was relegated to a solo last seeing the field down the backside, improved on the rail slightly on the last turn shifting out at the quarter pole, angled out to the seven path for the drive to the wire but could not get into contention through the lane. SAILOR'S PASSION was in tight having to be taken back coming to the wire for the first time, shared the rear inside another in the early going, made little progression along the backstretch, travelled four wide on the last turn making no impact, was allowed to drift out widest to be ten wide turning for home and was no menace in the stretch run. PET SOUNDS had runners on either side in mid-division while two wide on the beginning turn, offered no change down the backside, was roused three wide at the three eighths pole but could not quicken with rivals to his inside around the final bend, moved out to the eight path for the stretch run but had little to give through the lane. THREE SONNY SIDEUP was in the six path entering the clubhouse turn, sat in midfield going four wide outside foes on the first of two turns, was ridden on for more but was losing ground to others at the seven sixteenths pole, travelled two wide on the far bend but was retreating by the quarter marker to be at the rear, shifted to the five path in upper stretch and could only manage to pass an inside weary straggler coming to the furlong pole. ADAPTED travelled five wide heading into the initial bend, advanced circling around runners three wide on the first turn, forced the brisk pace outside along the back straightaway, still hounded the inside leader two wide midway along the second bend, dropped back abruptly by the quarter pole and ran out of steam emptying out just off the rail in upper stretch.
