Chart notes
GEM STATE was away alertly, setting fractions while pressed by HOLD ME CLOSE and saving ground, kicked for home and was tiring in the lane but held on for the win. NORTHERN QUEST settled early while saving ground, advanced position along the turn and made a sustained stretch bid but could not get to the winner. TEQUILA BLANCO was four wide on the first turn, settled midpack through the backstretch, was three wide on the second turn, and had no late kick in the stretch. FOUR O'FIVE was close to the early pace, then settled midpack while saving ground, and tired in the stretch run. HOLD ME CLOSE pressed the early pace while two wide down the backstretch and on the second turn, lost position heading into the stretch and had no late rally. BLUES RAPPER settled toward the back of the field early, was three wide while still at the rear around the second turn and had no late response. HAWK'S RISING brushed with BLUES RAPPER slightly at the break, assumed a ground saving trip along the backstretch and second turn and was empty for the stretch drive.
