Chart notes
BRICE vied inside of NEW MEXICO for the early lead, shook free of that rival on the backside, raced well off the inside turning for home, dug in gamely when challenged in deep stretch and determinedly held on. PLATO raced off the pace inside, advanced outside on the far turn, rallied outside in the stretch drive, dug in gamely in deep stretch but could not get by the winner. KNOKKE BY THE SEA raced off the pace, advanced on the far turn and rallied mildly. SPEED SYNDROME raced off the rail, off the pace, came wide into the lane and failed to threaten. NEW MEXICO vied outside for the lead, then chased the winner and gave way. CHINOMADITO reared up at the break when in the hands of the assistant starter, then outrun. SHOELESS raced three wide early, settled off the pace and gave way. After a Stewards' Inquiry into the start, CHINOMADITO was declared a non starter for wagering purposes.
