Chart notes
FOREST FIRE showed good early speed to set all the pace, was headed nearing the eighth pole, dug in at the sixteenth pole held under strong handling. MCELMORE AVENUE stalked the early pace from the outside, was forced fie wide at the seven eighths pole, raced three wide nearing the three eighths marker, led at the eighth pole but and finished willingly to the wire. COAL TRUTH was allowed to settle early, raced five wide at the three sixteenths pole and showed late interest. CLUBMAN was slow early on, raced widest through the stretch stretch drive and had not enough. HANALEI'S HOUDINI pressed the early leader, raced two wide around the far turn and weakened. EL SAMURO was allowed to settle off the early going, raced three wide at the eighth pole and had no late response. V. I. P. TICKET was unhurried early, raced just off the inside around the far turn, was along the inside rail in the stretch drive and never threatened.
