Chart notes
MASHHAD FLATS bumped lightly with MESA EMPIRE at the start, well placed behind the top pair while off the rail, took aim four to five wide leaving the far turn, bid three deep at the quarter pole, cleared at the three-sixteenths pole and held well over the runner-up. EVEN STEVEN went five then four wide around the clubhouse turn, chased three then four wide on the second bend, closed the gap on the winner in the lane but faltered in deep stretch. AFTER THE CANDY dueled for command from inside to the lane, vied with a pair of rivals in upper stretch, weakened in the final furlong but was able to hold the show. MESA EMPIRE bumped lightly with the winner at the start, went up to duel for command from outside, vied between in upper stretch and weakened. COMMISSIONER DAVID stalked the pace from inside, moved off the rail around the far turn, exited the bend three wide and tired.
