VENOMOUS STATE was forwardly placed to lay up close in the early stages, moved up four wide through the far turn, raced well clear inside the inside eighth pole under steady handling and was in hand in the final stages. CALCULATED THINKIN stalked the pace, raced five deep in the drive and finished second best. MOBEATYABAD was sent clear early on to set the early going and weakened the final eighth of a mile. MR. MAGICO lunged at the break and never threatened.
