AMERICAN LAW settled off the pace, was roused while inside to the two path around the turn, rallied into upper stretch, gained a short lead approaching the furlong marker and edged clear under strong urging. VODKA MARDINI was hustled to the front, showed the way down the backstretch, vied inside on the turn, was asked for his best in upper stretch, lost the lead to the winner coming to the furlong marker and was outfinished while clear for the place. MAGICAL WAYS broke out at the start, switched outside the leader early, moved up to press the pace with five furlongs to run, vied in the two to three path while asked on the turn, dropped back into upper stretch and weakened but earned the show. IMPROPER dropped back under urging, was coaxed along on the outside, went four wide around the turn and came up empty. NORGAY broke a step slow, was coaxed along at the rear, raced between foes passing the five-eighths, went three wide under urging around most of the turn, dropped to the two path late on that bend and failed to respond.
