Chart notes
BARON'S SONG was away in good order to stalk the paced of MONGOLIAN APPLE while racing four-wide, moved up to engage that rival nearing the quarter, vied into mid-stretch then was engaged by TRANSITORY, vied with that foe, drifted out late and bumped that rival and held gamely. TRANSITORY was reserved just off the leaders early, moved three-wide through the second turn, angled out further into the lane, offered a bid in mid-stretch, vied with the winner, was bumped by that rival late and lost best chance. MONGOLIAN APPLE set a pressured pace, responded when challenged by BARON'S SONG nearing the quarter, vied with that rival and gave way through the final furlong. CAPIAT lacked early foot, raced off the rail through the second turn, reached a contending position and finished evenly late. WESTERBERG showed no early speed, raced three-wide through the second turn and did not threaten. SMOKIN' GOOD TIME raced four-wide through the first turn, raced just off the leaders early, moved five-wide through the second turn and weakened. THE STEWARDS CONDUCTED AN INQUIRY CONCERING THE BUMPING BETWEEN BARON'S SONG AND TRANSITORY THROUGH THE FINAL YARDS AND AFTER REVIEWING THE FILMS THE STEWARDS CONCLUDED THAT BARON'S SONG HAD DRIFTED OUT LATE TO BUMP TRANSITORY AND WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM FIRST AND PLACED SECOND. THE RACE WAS HAND TIMED.
