SMART LAD broke sharply and forced the pace from the outside of SET TO SHINE entering the first turn, chased the leader in the run down the backside, struggled to match strides with the pacesetter while racing two wide entering the final turn, but closed two wide in the drive to prove clearly second best. PRINCE CAIRO settled well off the leaders while saving ground at the rail entering the backstretch, commenced his bid from along the rail entering the final turn, and closed two wide in the drive to garner a share.
