Chart notes
SOVEREIGN CAUSE was bumped in the early going, settled off the leaders in behind just off the fence, came out in upper stretch seeking room and carried out by the drifting leader, contended between runners then spurted clear late. TREBUCHET was prominent for the very early going then settled and dropped back toward the rear racing outside, came again making a five wide move on the turn, bid and took a narrow and brief lead in mid-stretch but was outkicked. CELENTANO was bumped into a rival soon after the start, tracked from between runners in the second flight into the turn racing three wide on that bend, was forced out in upper stretch by the drifting leader and ran on. ASTAPOVO moved forward inside under mild coaxing to take the lead, set the pace inside but just off the fence, drifted out several paths in upper stretch and was outfinished. CADFAEL settled off the pace, waited briefly coming to the quarter pole racing in behind runners and off the fence, shifted ten wide in upper stretch and ran on. ABSOLUTE CHAIRMAN had the early lead but was soon outpaced, pursued the leading pair from outside the second flight four wide on the turn, was between runners in upper stretch and in contention but lacked the needed late kick. DATS TRUE LOVE broke a step slowly, raced at the back and was not a threat. TODAY came in soon after the start bumping a rival then moved forward between runners, pressed the pace about three wide, was in tight in upper stretch, clipped heels and stumbled badly, dropping back to last. FOLLOWING A STEWARDS' INQUIRY AS WELL AS AN OBJECTION BY THE RIDER OF TODAY AGAINST BOTH CELENTANO AND ABSOLUTE CHAIRMAN ALLEGING INTERFERENCE, ASTAPOVO WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM FOURTH AND PLACED LAST BEHIND TODAY FOR CAUSING INTERFERENCE.
