Chart notes
SOMAMA BEACH showed speed then dropped off the pace near the nine-sixteenths, chased two then three wide on the turn, gained four wide into the stretch, took the advantage while still on his inside lead outside the furlong marker, shook clear outside the sixteenth-pole, swapped to the proper lead just inside that pole and prevailed under steady urging. BUSTINO SANTINO bumped with rivals on both sides at the start, was urged along on the outside, went five then six wide on the turn, pursued the leaders in the stretch and earned the place. HOTTAKEJAKE was hustled to the front, showed the way under pressure, vied inside on the turn, was urged along passing the five-sixteenths pole, came under a drive in upper stretch, lost the advantage to the winner outside the furlong marker and weakened then lost the place while able to get the show. WITHIN VIEW broke out and bumped soundly with a foe, was urged along off the pace, went three wide on the turn, came five wide into the stretch then dropped in, angled out near the sixteenth-pole and improved position with good courage. PERNO bobbled at the start but broke in front, showed speed then chased the pace on the outside, made a bid in the five path early on the turn, dropped to the four then three path late on that bend, fought outside of two foes into the final furlong, dropped back into the final sixteenth and tired. BARRON'S BOUNCE was hustled from the gate, checked when put in tight against the rail early, was urged along towards the rear, saved ground on the turn, came three wide into the stretch then dropped back in, moved out late and failed to threaten. SOLO EMPIRE stumbled at the start,was forced in early then bumped with a foe, raced off the pace under coaxing, went two then three wide on the turn, spun four wide into the stretch and failed to threaten. POWER TEN was bumped and forced in early, settled off the pace, was urged along in the two path on the turn and failed to respond. MITHRIDATES bumped with rivals on both sides at the start, pressed the pace on the outside of the leader, vied in the three path on the turn, dropped back near the five-sixteenths pole and retreated. DUNEDIN CAUSEWAY was hustled from the gate, checked in tight quarters early then moved out, fell well behind the rest of the field and was eased in the stretch but walked off.
