Chart notes
MONTEREY PENINSULA tracked the top pair up the backstretch, moved up in hand three wide to engage the top duo at the quarter pole, swept by along the outside in upper stretch, was ridden out past the furlong marker, widened to a commanding lead with ease and wrapped up late. CHAMPION BY DESIGN pressed the early pace, vied for the lead around the turn, was no match for eventual winner past upper stretch but stayed on and held second best. PURE ROCKET raced off the early pace, picked up the tempo mid-way around the turn, drifted wide entering upper stretch, sustained bid and got up for show. RICKEY B raced off the to trio up the backstretch, continued in range around the turn, given cue three wide upper stretch and needed more for late impact. WHEELER DEALER raced off the pace, chased three wide around the turn and failed to move into contention. STORM CATCHER set a pressured pace in early stages, vied for the lead around the turn then tired in the drive. RIDING THE TRAIN raced in the back, came four wide into upper stretch and never menaced.
