ON THE PAYROLL set the pace on the inside, opened up a clear lead, responded when roused in the stretch run and was kept to the task. LADY D'ORO broke a step slow, steadied leaving the chute, tracked close up on the inside, steadied again entering the turn, chased, angled out at the top of the lane, rallied mildly, then dug in to hold second. A NEW PEACE raced off the pace inside, came three wide into the lane, rallied mildly outside and got third. A CASE OF YOU raced off the rail, off the pace, chased on the turn, rallied mildly inside and missed for third. FOR SALE bobbled at the break, was outrun early and closed belatedly inside. GREEK HEIRESS stalked two wide, chased two wide on the turn and tired. WARWOMAN raced off the pace inside, chased inside on the turn and tired.
