BREVE broke out at the start, spotted the field a little bit of a head start and raced near the back of the field going into the first turn while taking an inside position, gradually advanced on the leaders down the backstretch, deftly navigated from the inside rail to the four path in the clear at the top of the stretch, responded when asked once clear of the field, finished strongly under steady handling and was along in time. MARS MAGIC broke alertly then was held up and fighting the rider a bit heading into the clubhouse turn, was angled to the three path for the run through the turn and pulled forward to a stalking position behind PROOF OF JAZZ, remained close in the run down the backstretch, was let loose and asked to go on from the three furlong marker, tipped out to the three path for the stretch run, took the lead in upper stretch under strong handling, drifted in late despite left handed urging and was outfinished in the final jumps for the win but was well clear of the next horse. SPARKLE SWEETLY came away well and got good position into the first bend, moved up to a stalking position behind PROOF OF JAZZ as the field started the run down the backstretch, maintained that position to the far turn, went into a drive to bid for the lead from the three furlong marker, pulled even at the top of the stretch, had trouble changing leads until mid-stretch and was outkicked in the final furlong. DRAW ME settled mid-pack through the early stages while keeping to the inside, moved up into striking position heading into the far turn, tried to slip through a hole along the rail but was beaten to it by DERRYGOOLIN, had to steady, then alter course to the four path, re-rallied and was gaining ground at the end but was too late. DERRYGOOLIN raced close up through the early stages while saving ground along the rail, had to wait behind horses through the turn, angled into a narrow opening along the rail after passing the eighth pole, could not find another gear when needed and finished evenly. PROOF OF JAZZ was hustled from the break to get forward position and gained the lead into the first turn without meeting any resistance, was left alone on the lead through solid fractions, held sway through the far turn, was set down after passing the three furlong marker, surrendered the lead at the top of the stretch, tired and was outfinished in the final furlong. SELSAE broke outward at the start then got pinballed a few strides into the race, settled near the rear of the pack, well off the pace, struggled to make up any ground from the far turn and was never a threat. GEA was last into the first turn, continued to trail the field down the backstretch, chased through the turn, passed one late but was otherwise never a factor. LADY GOOD TROUBLE came away well, got forward position early racing three wide, tried to launch a bid with three furlongs to run but did not respond, began to lose ground, raced erratically at the top of the stretch and trailed the field to the wire. This race was originally hand timed and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
