Chart notes
DIAMONDONICE rated from outside, commenced his bid after a quarter mile, advanced three wide on the turn, fanned out further into the stretch, gained a narrow advantage with seventy yards to go and kept MAMAS FIRE at bay. MAMAS FIRE prominent from outside, was just off the inside on the bend, rallied between horses inside the last furlong, could not get past DIAMONDONICE in the waning yards but began to pull away for second. HAND OVER MY HEART was hustled up early to gain a clear lead before finishing the first furlong, floated out some into the stretch and slowly wore down inside the last eighth. FAST CROSS TRAFFIC well placed just off the inside, did not keep up along the rail on the turn and ran evenly from inside through the lane. EMPTY HOLSTER chased from just off the inside, angled out through the turn, came widest into the lane, drifted out some upper stretch, kept a straight path the last furlong but had little to offer. DEVIL'S RULE also angled out through the bend, came into the stretch from path four and had no late bid.
