BERRY VALLEY allowed to settle in the early stages while never far back, was guided two wide into the turn, roused four wide at the quarter pole, circled five to six wide into the stretch and ran evenly to the furlong marker, closed with a rush into the final sixteenth, surged in deep stretch and got up for a determined win in the final strides. ANTHONYS CLEOPATRA went up to contest the early pace inside of LUSMA, dueled for command with that rival and contested a moderate pace into the turn, vied for the lead from the two path along the bend, battled a stubborn LUSMA into upper stretch, met the bid of DRAW ME past the furlong marker and gamely fought into the final sixteenth, overtook DRAW ME into deep stretch but was caught by the oncoming winner in the final strides and held for second at the finish. DRAW ME took back to track the moderate pace from the inside, saved ground into the turn and was well placed at the quarter pole, rallied into the stretch, vied for the lead into the final sixteenth, took a narrow advantage in deep stretch, was out finished for the win and place and held for the show in a good effort. TWILIGHT EMPIRE tracked the moderate early pace from the outside, well placed into the turn, gained ground at the quarter pole and chased four wide into the stretch, made a mild bid in the final sixteenth but was outkicked in the late stages. LUSMA sent leaving the start, engaged with ANTHONYS CLEOPATRA in the early stages and contested the moderate pace outside of that rival, pressed the pace from the three path into the turn, battled into upper stretch, could not match strides with the rest into the final sixteenth and gave way in deep stretch.
