CHICKASAW settled off the early pace while racing one out from the rail entering the stretch the first time, continued to bid his time well off the contested early pace in the run down the backside, launched his bid three wide entering the final turn, and closed two out from the rail in the drive to prove best. SLOOP JOHN B away well and dueled for the lead two wide entering the first turn, set a pressured pace from the inside of FRASER LANDING through the second turn and in the run down the backside, took a narrow advantage into the final turn, and gave way grudgingly late while holding on for the place. PRINCE CAIRO settled off the early pace while saving ground at the rail entering the stretch the first time, bided his time at the back of the pack while racing at the rail entering the backside, rallied smartly from along the rail entering the final turn, and continued gamely from along the rail in the drive to just miss the place. CURLIN ROCKS away alertly and vied for the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, eased off the contested early pace through the stretch the first time to stalk the battling leaders into the second turn, rallied smartly two wide entering the final turn, but lacked the needed closing response when called upon. FRASER LANDING broke sharply and pressed the pace three wide through the first turn, continued to force the issue through the second turn and into the backstretch from the outside of SLOOP JOHN B, was unable to match strides with that rival nearing the final turn, and weakened over the final furlong.
