Chart notes
ONE MAGIC PHILLY pressed the pace from outside up the backstretch, drew on even terms at the three-eighths pole, inched ahead a quarter mile out, put SWEET AZTECA away entering the lane, drew away when asked left then right handed and maintained a comfortable lead under urging to the wire. IRISH WAHINE tracked the top pair from inside into the turn, tipped out into the lane, finished willingly to gain second but could not threaten the winner. KIRSTENBOSCH stalked four wide into the turn, chased three wide leaving the bend and could not respond when called upon. SWEET AZTECA took control and set the pace under pressure from ONE MAGIC PHILLY up the backstretch, headed by that rival three furlongs out, lost command approaching the quarter pole, yielded to the winner entering the lane and weakened.
