PATCHES O'HOULIHAN broke sharp for the lead, dueled head-to-head inside up top around the turn, was getting out at the five sixteenths pole, still had the advantage five wide between foes at the top of the stretch, continued to bear out giving up the lead in the seven path in upper stretch, lugged out still while tenaciously fighting back twelve wide with a sixteenth from the trophy and came on again to show his heart winning comfortably when crossing the finish line. DHABAB (IRE) travelled on the fence in mid-division early on, continued inside making little movement around the turn, shifted out nine wide reaching for more ground at the quarter pole, angled in with a sixteenth left to run and closed in late to get the runners up share at the finish. WAR BOMBER (IRE) was three deep on the outside stalking in the third tier, edged a little closer through the turn, angled out for clear run having good momentum in the ten path straightening for home, shifted inwards finding more at the sixteenth pole and got up right at the wire to capture third place. OUTLAW KID had a nice set up on the fence watching the top two rivals contest the pace in the early stages, closed in on the rail with five sixteenths from the wire, seized command inside in upper stretch, could not continue the rally with a sixteenth to run and faded late to settle on the fringes in the end. BAL A KAZOO stalked between rivals in the third flight, was shuffled back a touch around the bend and finished up willingly three wide passing challengers in the final eighth. CAROLINE STREET was unhurried to trail the field, took the short way around at the rear running on the turn, shifted just outside two wide for the stretch drive and finished with some energy inside runners in the late stages. I'M A GAMBLER (IRE) travelled three deep outside horses tracking the front pair, took closer order three wide through the turn, had a chance for a piece of the prize eight wide in upper stretch but evened out in the final furlong to make little presence late. BRING THEBAND HOME moved in to force the issue outside at the five-furlong pole, argued up front outside moving comfortably around the turn, was in the thick of things six wide at the top of the stretch, could not carry on when urged right-handed at the furlong pole and yielded in the last sixteenth. FLAG OF HONOUR (AUS) was ahead of one rival along the backside, made no advance three wide around the bend and failed to menace four wide driving to the wire. FIRST EMPIRE had a tracking position between runners in the two path down the backstretch and throughout the turn. was in range just behind the leader if good enough in the six path turning for home, lacked a closing kick through and wilted by the furlong pole.
