Chart notes
THIRSTY TRICKSTER exchanged bumps with PRINCE OF DEL MAR after the break but otherwise came away well, was sent for and gained the lead, held all at bay through the turn while being confidently handled, opened up when set down in the stretch and went unthreatened to the wire to win clear. SWIFT STEPHAN broke in at the start then was hustled forward to press THIRSTY TRICKSTER through the early going on the rail, looked to get outside near the three furlong pole but was unable to do so, had to wait for racing room, tipped out a path at the top of the stretch and finished well but was no match for the winner. UNPRETENTIOUS was allowed to settle from the break and raced wide and at the back of the field through the early stages, made a middle move around the turn, came into the stretch five to six wide and finished well to gain third. PRINCE OF DEL MAR broke inward then bobbled, nearly losing the rider, then was rushed up into the pace mix, shuffled back near the seven-sixteenths pole then went into a drive, made up some ground through the turn, dove to the rail for the stretch run but could not make up the needed ground. CHARLIE NEAL was hustled into the early pace battle and was up close for a furlong, steadied at the half mile pole, lost position, went into a drive to get back into contention but could not improve. GARRY JOHN stumbled at the break, rushed up three wide to contest the pace, loomed a threat approaching the quarter pole, had trouble changing leads at the top of the stretch and faltered in the stretch while lugging in. CONTRARY GIG was up in the early pace mix then shuffled back near the seven-sixteenths pole, then took up approaching the three furlong marker, lost momentum, dropped to last and was unable to recover. This race was originally hand timed and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
