JOHN'S PROMISE saved ground stalking the early pace, moved up strongly four-wide nearing the quarter pole, took the lead entering the stretch then opened a clear lead nearing the eighth pole and maintained a safe advantage. RED DEVOLUTION disputed the early pace along the inside, dropped back slightly on the turn, then angled out to be two-wide nearing the three-sixteenths pole and finished well for third in a steady effort. SHANGHAI SUPERFLY was off a step slow then was unhurried, came three-wide into the stretch and finished in a late rally. THEA'S THEME vied for the lead with EDWARD MADDEN while racing three-wide to the stretch and weakened slightly late. MAHOMES MONEY was allowed to settle early, came five-wide into the stretch but lacked a rally. EDWARD MADDEN vied for the lead while two-wide early, angled in nearing the quarter pole and tired.
