Chart notes
LAHAINA FLAVOR settled between rivals in the two path then found the rail on the clubhouse turn, gained three deep on the far turn, drew alongside the leaders midstretch and drove clear late. ZALAMO (FR) tracked four then three deep early, bid three deep at the quarter pole, took over late on the bend, dueled with JACK KEROUAC into the final furlong, relinquished the lead to LAHAINA FLAVOR midstretch and and held second. JACK KEROUAC sent from outside to take control, cut across to the rail once in the clear, took pressure early on the backstretch, moved clear at the half-mile pole, took pressure again leaving the backstretch, cleared past the three-eighths pole, tested by two rivals at the quarter pole, lost command late on the turn, fought into deep stretch and yielded late. PHOSPHORESCENCE (FR) stalked from inside then moved over to the two path on the first turn, tugged the rider forward to apply pressure between rivals at the five-eighths pole, dropped back slightly to take a stalking position in hand, saved ground through the far turn, roused at the top of the lane, lacked room from upper stretch to the sixteenth pole and kept on late for a minor award. FIREMAN DAN raced up close two then three wide, pressed three deep early on the backstretch, lost touch with the leader at the halfway point, bid from outside at the seven-sixteenths pole, lost touch again past the three-eighths pole, reengaged between rivals at the quarter pole, could not sustain the challenge in upper stretch and flattened to fifth. KIMMER reserved at the back on the inside, trailed to the far turn, tipped three wide late on that bend and passed tired rivals. MONGOLIAN ALTAI tracked the pacesetter from the rail, coaxed along leaving the backstretch but had to pause when running up behind a rival into the far turn, resumed urging around the far turn while remaining on the fence but weakened down the lane. FLINT STROLL tracked three then two wide between rivals on the first turn, had to steady off heels into the second bend, continued between runners on the far turn and also weakened.
