Chart notes
MOUNT PELLIAR was not asked for speed from the break and was last through the first turn, made steady forward progress while racing wide down the backstretch, was struggling to keep up when the pace quickened with three furlongs to run, found an inside path into the stretch and ran on well under steady handlling, took the lead in deep stretch and won clear. LORD WIMBORNE (IRE) went four wide through the first turn then tracked on the outside of the trio sitting behind the runaway leader, pulled into a stalking position before the half, loomed a big threat three wide on the far turn, battled with KO SAMUI (IRE) down the stretch but had trouble getting past that foe the length of the stretch finally winning the bob for second. KO SAMUI (IRE) was pushed a bit to get forward position but ceded the pacesetting duties to MIKE OPERATOR, tracked inside of three behind that rival then moved close during the backstretch run, went to challenge at the three-furlong pole and was joined to the outside by LORD WIMBORNE (IRE), battled the latter foe the length of the stretch, held on well but lost the head bob at the wire. ECOLOGIST unhurried through the early stages, bided time near the rear of the compact field, was advancing down the backstretch up the rail, shifted to the three path, tried to launch a bid on the turn but was not making up any ground, came into the stretch still in last but was kept to task and managed to pass a couple of tired ones in the stretch. MIKE OPERATOR broke well and got away from the rest early, opening up a five length lead through the first turn, held sway as the field bunched up on the backstretch run, went into a stiff drive with three furlongs to run, fought back when challenged by a pair a the quarter pole, battled to mid-stretch then gave way. GORDY'S BOY raced between horses in the group tracking the pacesetter, was getting close approaching the half-mile marker then backed out of a tight spot, lost some momentum and did not have much to give for the rest of the trip. This race was originally hand timed and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
