Chart notes
UNDER SURVEILLANCE broke outwardly, attended the pace inside, drew even past the half, dueled on the turn turning into upper stretch, took command and moved clear nearing the furlong grounds, held under steady handling. STAR SCHOLAR settled off the leaders and removed from the rail, began to advance late on the turn shifting out five wide coming to the quarter pole and six deep at the top of the stretch under urging, gained steadily and slowly but was only second best. SMART ALMASTY tracked inside, saved ground on the turn, went evenly. HARPER CITY stalked outside mid-pack, went three to four wide on the turn, was within range coming into upper stretch but could only kick on evenly. TREBUCHET was forwardly-placed between runners, chased within range coming past the quarter pole, dropped back soon after in upper stretch then shifted out past the eighth pole and kept on again late to improve the final position. DIXIE'S FLATTER settled off the pace racing near the rail, was one-paced. BENLION broke a step slowly and lost the path, was outpaced early bringing up the rear, angled eight wide in upper stretch and was not a threat. WEALLLIKEDHIM had the early lead from outside, dueled two to three wide on the turn putting a head back in front past the quarter pole, faltered and faded.
